John Deere 1025R Tractor, Loader, Backhoe.

John Deere 1025R Tractor, Loader, Backhoe

Perhaps I never thought I would ever review something as complicated as a sub-compact tractor; but with all of the features, components, maintenance involved and the ultimate usability, durability and functionality that I bought into with this investment; I guess the ultimate question will be, do I feel as though I got my money’s worth?

I grew up in my teens having a sub-compact tractor that my father bought to help maintain the 7 acres of citrus groves he had purchased at the time. I used to love driving that tractor and I would often times be found perusing the estate moving some dirt around. This review won’t be comparing the compact small-horsepower Kubota tractor of 40 years ago against my new 2020 John Deere 1025R Tractor, Loader, Backhoe (TLB). Rather this review will focus more on the capabilities, functionality, maintenance and durability of the new tractor for my purposes and utility around my 2.3 acres.

Keep returning back to this series of reviews for updates and stories about some of the functions I have tasked myself performing with the tractor, ease of use and maintenance, and the overall quality I am encountering along the way. I did a fair amount of research before selecting a John Deere and I will hopefully justify my purchase over the course of time.

I may never know if purchasing a similar Kubota, Mahindra or other sub-compact class tractor would have been a smarter decision; but with the depreciation minimized with the Deere and the small additional features and capabilities of the 1025R model, I am hoping I get maximum benefits to support my purchase decision. I could have bought more (bigger) of a tractor from other Chinese or Korean manufacturers; but reading the overwhelming resale-ability of the Deere and Kubota being the two top brands in the U.S., I figured I would stay in the sub-compact range because I still need to get this tractor in and out of the tight spaces of my back yard. Plus . . . I got me a Deere!

Look forward to our continuous reviews of the John Deere 1025R as we get more use from this piece of machinery.
