If you’re looking to get your money’s worth of drinking on this tour, you are better off spending it on a couple of bar drinks instead. If you are looking for a simple guided tour and introduction to the wild side of New Orleans on Bourbon Street, then this is one way see it.

Bourbon Street is not for the weak. Bourbon Street is a downright crazy, limitless party place that doesn’t stop. Upstairs, downstairs, in the corridors, bathrooms, bar tops, dance floors and streets. If you are into mischief and deciding to push the limits of your imagination and intoxication, Bourbon Street may be just what you are looking for. Pubcrawlneworleans.com provides a snapshot of what trouble you can get into, with a knowledgeable guide that walks you through, and explains, the bullshit that you’d likely encounter if attempting The Big Easy’s central party station on your own.

Our guide explained the program to us upon our check-in at the first bar, which was empty except for us ~20 patrons anticipating the tour. She gave us a few identification items like glow sticks and the traditional NOLA party beads. A complimentary shot of some fruit-sweet concoction was given and, as we waited for others to be checked in, we had ordered our own cocktails on our own dollar as was the case throughout the remainder of the tour. Some of the venues provided a shot, a free mechanical bull ride or a three-for-one cocktail deal, again only after you ordered and paid for your first drink. Talking with the others on the tour revealed that some had received the β€˜deal’ while others had not obtained them and had reduced the promos to just another opportunity to scam those of us anticipating a special promotional deal. None the less, there was plenty of alcohol consumed by all of us on the tour.

The venues that the tour included are those in the picture above. Except for our original meeting place, Sneaky Pete’s which played a rock music combination and had a juke box, all the other venues played very updated hip-hop dance music from DJs and Karaoke-style host entertainers. The few venues we visited on the tour were loud, crowded and a mostly younger crowd enjoying the good to excellent sound systems and lighting in those venues; although a little much for the older folks in our tour. I think it would have been better to have two more venues and 15 minutes less than the scheduled hour spent at each.

I think pubcrawlneworleans.com provided a good service for the money spent; however I definitely think it is catered more toward the younger audience that has the desire to remain in the Bourbon Street area after the tour.
