A very busy homemade ice cream shop with many locations. We happened to stop in Carlsbad, CA and waited about ten minutes in a rather long line. For the given line, it moves rather fast.
Our group shared and tasted several flavors of their huge-portioned, yet reasonably priced ice creams. Some flavors were better than others; some too sweet, yet some rather bland or missing traditionally what one would expect of a particular selection.
I had a scoop of their coconut cream pie, which was rather good with the chunks of pie crust scattered throughout. I thought this was one of the more attractive selections this evening. I also had their coffee w/Heath. Another good one, but lacked on the creaminess. My wife shared some of her rather off-flavored Pistachio. More sweet than flavorful. Handel’s, all the crowd, not the hype.
I have found a much better ice cream at one of our local markets. On sale it is worth every penny. I have yet to buy Producers at full price. All the flavor and creaminess of fresh homemade, with all the hype. Their Very Strawberry is the best strawberry ice cream I have ever had, and Producers has been around for a few more years.
