Beginning our journey down the main drag of the downtown Palm Springs promenade along S. Palm Canyon Drive, we found a guy peddling pizza slices as samples to the passerbys. We stop for a moment to quickly grab a small slice after our first round of cocktails has now given us the munchies.
He says, โBillโs Pizza, just down on the cornerโ, as he pointed with his platter of samples through the small plaza area in which he was standing. We tell him, โwe were just taking about getting a pie after our evening to take to the roomโ, since our hotel room is just one block further down the same promenade.
We have had Billโs Pizza on every visit here to Palm Springs. It seems to now be a staple for us and countless other locals and visitors to the city. Billโs is a busy place as they are not only known for their honestly-made custom-built pizzas and salads for those persons that have imbibed throughout the evening, but they also serve by-the-slice for those attempting to curb their quick pizza fix while walking the streets.

Located along Indian Canyon Dr., Billโs Pizza sits along a busy section of the townโs popular destination hot spots. If getting a pie made especially for you, youโll generally have to wait about 20 minutes. In the meantime, you may find yourself asking to borrow the key for the restroom; but be prepared for a slightly confusing journey down the, โmake a left, then a leftโ, as the directions are called out by the key-giver behind the ordering counter. After you figure out the left-left thing you find yourself traveling down a sketchy long hallway to find a somewhat stronghold of a door to the commode. Itโs awkward at first, but if youโve eaten at Billโs before and gone through this routine while waiting for your pie to be made, then you know it is a safe, yet long journey.
On the way to the restroom, youโll see tables along the curb where patrons enjoy their pie, craft beer and wine; or youโll find them sitting on one of the benches or planter walls to watch people as everyone seems to be keen on Billโs Pizza as a common downtown hot-spot.
We ordered our pie. Sat outside on a bench, watched some people and went down that long hallway. We then got our hot pizza and never made it directly back to the room. Instead we hit yet another bar and had some more drinks. Billโs made the final leg home to the room and made for a great after party snack before hitting the sheets.
However you get it, order a pizza and find the commode while waiting for your custom pie at Billโs Pizza in Palm Springs, CA. The best pizza experience, youโll ever wait for.
