Needing a quick get-away from the usual day-to-day grind of the 9 to 5, may find yourself searching for places where interesting people, interesting shopping and fabulous food come together in one spot. There are many places within a half-day’s drive from many Southern California cities, but one historical getaway city has been a playground for movie stars and politicians since the early 1900’s; yet this landmark destination is only a short, less than 2-hour, drive away.
Palm Springs is often times the common words spoken as many people venturing into the area’s local communities of Rancho Mirage or Desert Hot Springs, believe they are actually visiting this small gem of an adult city. Many may desire to venture to other areas of the Palm Desert with bigger, more expansive resorts, spas and child-friendly attractions; but for people open to walking very short distances between bars, exquisite dining and nightlife hot spots; even having its own casino, Palm Springs makes more sense for a moment of relaxation, good conversation and the ability to get it all, without ever getting into an Uber ride, public transportation vehicle or the dreaded behind the wheel of your own car. You can park your car at your hotel and ultimately stumble back to bed later that night as everything is located within just a couple of square blocks.
Within Palm Springs’ streets you’ll find samples of food from the local restaurants, chocolatiers and other novelty cuisine vendors. Just within a short stroll of the streets, you’ll see very nice high-end, antique and classic automobiles, stars imbedded in the sidewalks of famous people, movie stars and politicians; you’ll also see other people walking hand-in-hand looking at other people waking hand-in-hand, sometimes with children looking bored as they take to the days touring along side of their parents while they shop the multitude of boutiques and other shops. Lots of stuff to look at just by sitting on one of the many benches, seats or planter walls along one of the two one-way main drags that transit this small city.
After your first visit to Palm Springs you’ll find yourself seeing the familiar fronts of some of the bars and stores you visited the last time, but you’ll also realize some of those stores and restaurants have changed names, are under new ownership or have just been replaced as there seems to be a reasonably swift turnaround of some establishments; but the novelty of trying new places, seems to bring a new life to each visit.
Palm Springs, CA offers a swift moment to get away from your usual repertoire. An escape from the boss, your next door neighbors or just a getaway because you otherwise just need to get away.
