STP Bar and Grill πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†Like eating in my garage. San Diego, CA

STP Bar-N-Grill

I kinda like this place. It seems that almost every dΓ©cor nuance of an automotive shop has in been covered. I didn’t think to take a picture, but the bathroom door handles were one-piece aluminum headers from something. I did however, take a picture of the sound system speakers that appeared to be home made car stereo speakers . . . and sound just about as good as they did in my garage. This place was a pretty bad ass set up all the way around. A fun vibe!

The food is good but not quite worthy of the 4th eggplant, so the dΓ©cor makes up for it; although the food is plentiful, and artfully created. I had a taste of the tri-tip dinner that came with a tasty rice and perfectly sautΓ©ed/or possibly roasted vegetables. I wasn’t sure of their preparation. I was in eat mode. Even the garlic bread had their logo emblazoned from the cattle prod. The tri-tip was plentiful and served with their BBQ sauce.

I didn’t get a burger because I didn’t feel like eating one, and damn near everyone serves a very good burger with some good craft beers. Instead, I tried the Cubano sandwich. It was very large and full of flavors as it carried its own characteristics somewhat similar to an authentic Cubano. I still liked it. That plate came with a large serving of very good fries that had a particular seasoning aside from the Kosher salt. Couldn’t figure it out. Perhaps it was just a different salt. Again, I was mostly in eat mode here today since I had to get back to work.

We also had their sampler platter that had fried cheese curds, pickles, tater tots and a corn bread fritter something. I tried looking for their menu on line, but came up empty. It did have a tasty, I believe house made, Dijon dressing for dipping, but the fried goods were just ok as none seemed to have any individual characteristic.

The staff and service were excellent although we had beat the lunchtime crowd today.  The price was rather brisk spending $70 including tip for basically three plates, one beer and an iced tea.

You gotta check out the joint. I’ll be back at some point.
