Having just endured a day adventure at one of the local San Diego amusement attractions and their overpriced and lackluster deep-fried, heat-lamped food, the hungry bunch in our car remembered seeing our old favorite still open (Oggi’s endured some business issues in the past) at the Encinitas location.
We had many times enjoyed Oggi’s Vista and Temecula locations, even stopping at Encinitas in the past for a take-out pie at some point. So without much hesitation today, we decided to dine in with the family.
Having remembered Oggi’s in the past as always being family oriented and sports-design influenced, we were happy to see the inside of this location carry on the same attributes and theme with a nicely designed sports bar and restaurant.
As in the past, Oggi’s had a good tap beer selection and video game area to keep the kids amused. That’s beer for us, and video games for the kids. LOL
We ordered a pie, calzone, some wings and a house salad. I can put it simply and just say the very fresh house salad was by far the hit with its pickled onions that we could not get enough of. There was one piece of pizza remaining from the pie, and it got left behind. Hmmm, that’s not a normal thing with our family. The rest of the food was consumed because it was the only fresh and hot thing we had all day. The calzone had an abundance of cheese, adequate additional items inside with an ok dipping marinara. The wings were decent and the pie was just a pie. Don’t seem to be quite what we remembered.
A good place to eat and a very convenient location right off I-5 and the Encinitas Blvd exit. Just look . . . it’s right there.
Good service and good food. Catch your game, eat some food and let the kids rage. There were plenty of TVs and kids too. All raging. What else could you ask for when you’re tired, had enough sun and craving something cold to drink.
