Xel-Ha – The ultimate water park – Cancun

xelha_logoI’m going to start this out by pointing everyone to Trip Advisor. I really can’t tell you everything about this place, except it is a must-do when in Cancun . . . but spend all day and definitely go for the “all-inclusive” deal. You may really want to relax and enjoy this place. Check it out here: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g659488-d275031-Reviews-Xel_Ha_Park-Riviera_Maya_Yucatan_Peninsula.html. Also check out their website at: http://www.xelha.com/ .

The $80 USD at the door, or $107 USD w/transportation from Zona Hotelera, in Cancun; all-inclusive deal means you’re getting almost every water activity (dolphin petting, manatee scratching and SCUBA lessons/diving is more, etc), free drinks (mixed – meh, and tap beer – Ok), plus 5 buffet-style restaurants with some of the best tasting food I encountered while in Cancun. These buffets were really quite amazing. It was really the only place I was entertained with authentic Yucatecan, Caribbean and South American regional cuisines. The various restaurants included a regional Caribbean restaurant with live music and a delicious international buffet in the restaurant Chula Vista, fun and funky drinks in the bars El Pueblo and El Puente, a delightful myriad of flavours of Mexico in La Cocina del Pueblo, fast food and snacks on La Terraza and the experience of a typical Mexican cantina in the Jardin Corona. Everything we ate was perfectly seasoned and wonderfully flavorful. I think one thing is for sure . . . the world discoverers of the spice islands, definitely stopped here. As with most everything we have eaten here in Cancun, seemingly everything was absolutely seasoned to perfection . . . especially here at the Xel-Ha resort. Yes I cut and pasted some of this from their website . . . but it really was excellent buffet. At or above the level of the finest Las Vegas buffets. You won’t be disappointed.

The only thing we wish once there, is that we had more time to really enjoy it. Once we arrived we ate lunch and enjoyed everything we ate. Then we played on the water. Then we had a cocktail. Then we would’ve like to had a nap on the multiple hammocks scattered throughout under the abundant palms and other jungle plants; but before we knew it, we had to get back on the bus.

So if you’re looking for an all day adventure . . . especially with the kids, and you like really good food and free drinks; take the day trip here. Yeah, we did the joint day trip to Tulum and although interesting, would have been a better time here for the entire day and maybe an entire other day to the much more distant ruins of Chichan Itza.

Have fun, and by the way, the staff at Xel-Ha really goes out of their way to make this a memorable experience.

Xel-Ha, a must do while in Cancun. Maverick gives it a big thumbs up!!!
