Just outside of Los Angeles, Mambos http://mambosla.com/ was found by us desiring to eat at one of Guy Fieri’s “Diners Drive-in’s and Dives”. We were internet surfing on the way through LA. It was kinda fun exploring something new and in a new way to us (i.e. surfing the internet while en-route)
Went there for a lunch while passing through. Place was very small and packed as expected, but we were seated immediately. The owner, with a thick Cuban accent, was our waitress . “chew llike ebryting?”. Very charming and attentive. We ordered a sampler plate and a “special” that was a salmon plate. WOW! This place kicked @ss.
Oh and just a block and 1/2 away is a cookie shop that made an amazing ice cream cookie sandwich, with fresh ice cream and fresh cookie. Ooooooh…what a way to get back on the road! Full belly and an ice cream sandwich. I don’t have the name…sorry! I’ll have to work on that one.
Well worth the visit. It gets 4 and 1/2 plantains.
